Kadha has been consumed in India since ancient times and is now famous all over the world because of its amazing health benefits, especially for boosting immunity. It is essentially a mixture of herbs and spices. In fact, it can be prepared using different ingredients to target specific health issues.

One herb that you should definitely use to prepare kadha is giloy! It is a miraculous herb that is specifically consumed for building the body’s natural defence mechanism.

Here’s why giloy kadha is great for boosting immunity:

Giloy is scientifically known as Tinospora cordifolia and its Sanskrit name is amrita. The herb is packed with medicinal properties. Not only does it boost immunity but also has anti-toxic, antipyretic and antioxidant effects.

Here’s the recipe for giloy kadha

According to Ayurveda, you can consume giloy as a kadha to benefit from it. So, here’s how you can prepare giloy kadha right at home!

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 small branches of giloy 
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 4-5 tulsi leaves
  • 8-10 mint leaves
  • ½ tbsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp black pepper powder
  • 1-inch ginger
  • 2 tbsp honey

  • Start by peeling the giloy plant and blend it to make a powder of it. 
  • Boil water in a pan. Add turmeric and black pepper to it.
  • Let the mixture simmer on a medium flame for a minute. Next, add giloy powder, cinnamon sticks, and grated ginger to it. Leave the mixture to boil again but cover the pan with a lid this time.
  • Add tulsi leaves, mint leaves, and honey to the mixture. 
  • Now, let the mixture come to a boil. Then, leave it aside to cool down.
  • Sieve the mixture and drink it.

We’ve made the extra addition of cinnamon to this kadha because it has antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal properties along with anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. What’s more, ginger makes for a great addition because it contains gingerol which has powerful medicinal properties and can treat several health issues.
