Here’s how to get rid of constipation for better digestive health:

1. Drink enough water

For smooth digestion, you need to drink enough water a day in order to keep yourself hydrated. In fact, if you’re constipated then that means you aren’t drinking enough water. Dr Dharod suggests, “Having around 8-10 glasses of water on a daily basis can help one regulate bowel movement.” It happens because water or other liquids help to break down the food you consume and help your body to absorb all the nutrients. And this process softens your stool and prevents constipation.

2. Include fiber in the diet

Foods dense in fiber and antioxidants can help to enhance digestion, and help you manage stomach issues such as bloating, acidity, and constipation. Dr Dharod says, “Stick to eating foods loaded with fiber to keep your gut healthy. Try to include fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, and oats in the diet. Doing so can help you to ease your bowel movements.”

3. Exercise daily

Constipation can be really uncomfortable. In fact, it can lead to cramping in some cases. So, if you are looking for ways to naturally relieve or cure your constipation, it is important to exercise regularly. “You will be surprised to know that even simple walking or jogging can help with bowel movements by increasing blood flow throughout the abdomen,” says Dr Dharod.

4. Take a laxative

There is a wide range of laxatives available and guess what it can have a powerful impact on your digestive health, helping cure constipation while promoting regular bowel movements. Dr Dharod says, “Opt for laxative stimulants that are designed to force a bowel movement by squeezing the intestines. Always choose a laxative with the help of an expert.”
