What is constipation?

Constipation is a condition when bowel motions are uncomfortable or infrequent. In addition to being an indication of many diseases, constipation can also indicate an Agni that is out of balance, says Ayurveda expert Dr Rekha Radhamony.

It’s not advisable for gut health to go on without bowel motions for even one day. Our stools also contain wastes from physiological processes such as stercobilin, bacteria, dead cells, et al, in addition to wastes from our meals. A portion of these gets reabsorbed if you don’t poop every day, which leads to toxin accumulation.
