Simply applying face wash to your skin and washing it off with water is not enough, especially in the muggy monsoon, when we also sweat excessively and the pores on the skin often get clogged with oil and dirt. And guess what? This raises the risk of acne breakouts too! No wonder so many people report that their skin problems flare up during the monsoon season. Here is a double cleansing method that can rescue your skin.
With origins in the 10-step Korean skincare routine, the double cleanse quite simply means using two different cleansers – one with an oil-based cleanser, followed by another with a water-based cleanser. Simply put, washing your face twice is all it means. This method aims to get your face as clean as possible without irritating your skin.
Use two products, one right after the other. So, choose one cleanser which is oil-based, followed by another which is water-based.
Oil-based cleanser: In this first step, you need to apply an oil-based cleanser. You may be wondering why an oil-based cleanser? Well, applying this will draw out all oil-based impurities such as sebum, SPF, make-up, and pollutants first.
How to apply: Apply the oil-based cleanser to your palm, and use your fingers to gently massage it into your skin using a circular motion for around a minute. Don’t forget the area around the eyes and hairline. Rinse your face with lukewarm water.
Water-based cleanser: In the second step, wash your face with a water-based cleanser. This step cleanses water-based debris such as sweat and dirt. Also, this step allows the oil to mix with water and form a milky emulsion, making it easy to rinse from the skin instead of leaving a greasy residue.
How to apply: Apply the water-based formula in exactly the same way as before. And rinse it off with lukewarm water.
Note: Don’t forget to apply a moisturizer.
During monsoon, the humid weather causes a buildup of bacteria that can even clog the skin pores. Double cleansing will help you clean the sweat and remove the dirt and oil from the skin pores.
Sebum buildup causes infections that lead to acne. The oil-based cleanser is great at removing oil-based dirt, and most importantly, sebum. This process can kill the bacteria that cause acne and can also soothe the irritated skin that you might be experiencing due to acne.
A double cleanse, especially during the monsoon, can help your other beauty products penetrate better on your skin. The result is that your pores are clean and better prepared to draw in your serums and moisturizers.
Do you have dry skin? If yes, you may find that your skin is better off with a double cleansing routine. It is a gentle formula that allows you to avoid over-drying your skin.
So ladies, the double cleanse method is your ultimate solution to your monsoon skin problems. Take care of your skin!
