Monsoon means not just a relief from hot temperatures, but also humidity, which causes the problem of oily skin to exacerbate. With an increase in humidity and excessive sweating, the pores on the skin often get clogged with oil and dirt. This raises the risk of an acne breakout, and you have to be proactive to ensure that you’re minimising your risk of developing oily skin this monsoon season.

To manage this issue, bacteria and other impurities from your pores need to be removed, preferably without running the risk of facing allergic reactions or irritating sensitive skin. Well, worry not, as using natural ingredients can help you do exactly that

Ingredients such as neem, honey and lemon can help remove dead skin cells and absorb excess oil from your skin, leaving it smooth and supple. They also help bind the oil and dirt in your pores and pull them out, which clears your pores and gives you an evenly toned and radiant skin.

Here are three ingredients you can add to your skin care routine to combat oily skin this monsoon
1. Neem

Neem has been known from time immemorial to be beneficial for our skin. Neem contains various ingredients such as vitamin E, antioxidants, calcium and limonoids that enhance skin health. Neem can help manage oily skin, wrinkles and boost collagen production. It’s cleansing properties can help treat acne and reduce scars. You can make a face scrub by mixing neem oil with powdered coffee, and massage it all over your face and neck. For a cleansed and radiant look, wash it after ten minutes with warm water.

2. Honey

For centuries, honey has been used for skin care. The enzymes present in honey soften the skin and moisturize it. It has antioxidants, antiseptic, and antibacterial properties that help get rid of blackheads by removing dirt from the pores. It also hydrates and tightens skin pores, providing a glow to your skin. You can make a face mask by mixing honey with coconut oil. Massage it on your face and then clean it with cold water.

3. Lemon

Lemons contain hydroxy acids such as AHA (Alpha hydroxy acid) and BHA (Beta hydroxy acid) that remove dead skin cells and help reduce blackheads, acne, and discoloration. Lemons also contain vitamin C, an antioxidant that helps prevent the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Mix lemon juice with honey to make a face cleanser. Apply the cleanser on your face and then rinse it off after fifteen minutes with warm water for a fresh and bright look.
