We have a love-hate relationship with ghee. Just one teaspoon of ghee can make food taste super yummy but also adds calories to it, which requires a really powerful workout session to burn. So, most of us generally end up avoiding this nutritious food altogether.

However, ghee has uses that go beyond just making food tasty. It can do wonders for your skin!

Ghee is rich in fatty acids which can deeply nourish your skin and keep it hydrated. A well-moisturised skin doesn’t just glow but also ensures that other skin problems such as the appearance of fine lines stay at bay. In fact, for years, Indian women have used ghee to treat problems of dry skin and chapped lips.

Here are four super powerful face packs that you can make using ghee and ensure that you skin stays supple:

1. Besan and ghee
Ghee is extremely moisturising and besan makes for an excellent exfoliator. When combined together in this face mask, they ensure that you’re able to get rid of all the impurities and dead skin cells gently while also keeping your skin moisturised.

How to use: Mix two teaspoons of ghee with one teaspoon of besan. Apply to this to your face for 20 minutes before washing off—et voila!

2. Ghee, haldi, and neem
We know that turmeric can give your skin a healthy glow but did you know that it also has antibacterial properties? Hence, it can keep your skin clear and smooth. Neem’s antioxidant boost will protect your skin against the effects of ageing. Now, add ghee to this mix for a super soft skin and you’ll get a very potent face pack.

How to use: Mix one teaspoon of neem powder, half a teaspoon of pure haldi and one teaspoon of ghee to make a paste. Apply it on cleansed skin and keep it on for 15 minutes before washing off.

3. Ghee and honey
Honey, being a humectant, has the power to aid moisturise absorption and retention. Combining it with ghee, which is a powerful moisturiser, will ensure that you never suffer from dry skin again.

How to use: Mix half a teaspoon of honey with half a teaspoon of ghee. Massage this on your face for 20 minutes before washing it with warm water.

4. Multani mitti and ghee
We’ve seen women over generations using multani mitti as their skin saviour. Rich in magnesium chloride, it not only deep cleanses the skin but also makes sure it stays free of impurities and blackheads. Ghee balances the drying effect of multani mitti that many people complain about and makes the skin supple.

How to use: Mix one teaspoon of multani mitti with one teaspoon of ghee to make a face mask. Keep this on the skin for 20 minutes before washing it off with lukewarm water.
