2020 has been the year of the pandemic, and both physical distress and mental stress have taken over our lives. It literally seems like this is the very first time when people have genuinely understood the significance of staying mentally calm.

In fact, social media is flooded with DIY stuff that can help you release stress in no time. But most of us do not have the luxury of time to try these out. Plus, the uncertainty surrounding vaccination, or when our lives will return to normal is making us all the more anxious.

Therefore, apart from some DIY hacks, we need something that can really help to soothe our nerves. And you know what, by god’s grace we have found a solution. You don’t have to go anywhere nor do you have to shell out extra hours for this. All you have to do is press a few points in your body. Yes, we are referring to acupressure.

Acupressure is a foolproof science, and even experts believe that it works like a magic pill. The only thing you need to know are the exact points to press, and you are sorted.

Even in the case of anxiety and depression, acupressure suggests certain points that help you calm down. Want to know what points these are? Then let’s take you through them.

Here are three acupressure points that will help you drive away stress and more:
1. Middle of your wrist

If you are feeling anxious or depressed, and are unable to sleep, then press the centre of your inner wrist with your thumb. Keep pressing it for a few seconds and then release. Do this till you don’t feel better.

2. Centre of your head

Whenever you feel stressed and feel panic-stricken, then just sit in a silent room, close your eyes, and using your fingers or thumb, press the centre of your forehead. Another thing that you can do is to take your index and middle finger, put it in the centre of your forehead, press it a little, and rotate it clock and anticlockwise. Do it for 15 seconds, and release and do it 5 to 6 times.

3. Point below your knee

On the inner side, right below your knee is a point that will help you clear brain fog. Brain fog is a situation when you just can’t focus and think straight, but if you use acupressure techniques, then there can be a chance for you to clear your head and think straight.

Sit properly, use your index finger, and press this point. Apply pressure for around 15 to 20 seconds, and then release. Do this 5 to 6 times to feel the difference.

Do you know that according to a study published in the International Journal of Nursing Studies, acupressure has shown amazing results when it comes to lowering depression, anxiety, and stress? Maybe that’s why it is also gaining popularity nowadays, since anything is better than popping pills.

Also, pressing a few points on the body helps in the activation of certain glands that help in the proper functioning of organs.

So, the next time you feel overwhelmed or anxious, press a few points here and there, and calm yourself down instantly.
