Summer months make most of us happy. Well, there is scorching heat to deal with, but then summer is also the time when mangoes arrive. As soon as May begins, I see small green mangoes growing in my backyard. Within weeks, they turn into big yellow fruit. You get ripe mangoes in abundance in June and July, but that doesn’t mean August is a no mango month. They are still available in markets or backyard. So, before the end of the mango season, dig into it and also use some of it in your skin care routine. My mom says mango face packs can give you glowing skin.

To know about mango face packs, Health Shots reached out Dr Urvi Panchal, a dermatologist and cosmetologist based in Gurugram.

Mango for skin

Mangoes are not only tasty, but also great for your skin. Here are some of the skin benefits of mangoes:

1. Hydration and nourishment

The juicy fruit is high in water content, making it good for hydrating skin. It also contains vitamins A, C, K and E, as well as beta-carotene, which nourish the skin and promote a healthy complexion, says Dr Panchal.

2. Anti-aging properties

The antioxidants present in mangoes help to combat free radicals that contribute to premature aging. Fine lines, wrinkles and sagging of the skin can also be delayed.

3. Skin brightening

The high vitamin C content in mangoes aids in brightening the skin and giving it a radiant glow. It can help to fade dark spots and even out the skin tone.

4. Treatment of acne and pimples

Mangoes possess anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe irritated skin and reduce redness caused by acne. They also contain enzymes that help in removing dead skin cells and unclogging pores.

5. Collagen production

The presence of vitamin A in mangoes supports collagen production, which is essential for maintaining skin elasticity and preventing sagging, shares the expert.
