Panda eyes? 3 facial exercises to bid adios to your dark circles!
Well, pandas are cute but you don’t want to look like a human hybrid of them due to your dark circles. The skin under your eyes is one of the thinnest layers of skin cells. It is delicate and also shows the blood vessels under it which make it appear a little more pigmented than the other skin on your face. However, stress, excess screen time, and ageing damage our under eye skin further. Many resort to expensive under eye creams to treat dark circles but they hardly budge!
And to top that, dark circles are frequently accompanied by under eye bags. They might make you appear older than you are. To make this situation worse, getting rid of them can be hard.
To know about some causes of dark circles and how to treat them effectively, HealthShots spoke to Dr Navnit Haror, Founder and Director of Derma Miracle Clinic.
“Despite the fact that dark circles can affect anyone, there are many factors that contribute to dark circles,” says Dr Haror.
The following are some of the most common causes of dark circles:
- Fatigue
- Loss of fat pads under the eye.
- Unhealthy nutrition and diet
- Eyestrain
- Dehydration
- Overexposure to sun
- Genetics
How to manage and treat dark circles?
“To get rid of dark circles, there are several treatment options. Home remedies, cosmetics, and sophisticated treatment procedures such as laser resurfacing and chemical peeling are among them. But facial exercises and easy yoga postures performed on a regular basis can help to reduce dark circles,” says Dr Haror.
Here are a few facial exercises that help treat dark circles:
1. Pat around the eye motion (starting position)
Start patting around your eyes with your index finger in a circular manner. Do this for 30 seconds and you will notice that your eyes are de-puffed and the skin around your eyes is smoother.
2. The V Squint
Under both eyes, make a V with your index and middle fingers. Next, rub your index finger around your eye’s circle. This stimulates blood circulation while draining lymphatic fluid from your under eye bags. Repeat this step 3–5 times.
3. Under eye hook
To begin, bend both your index fingers and place them under your eyes. Following this, swipe, lift, and tuck. Do this step 20 times. Repeat this step a total of 20 times. “If you do this exercise once a day for three days, you will see a significant reduction in your dark circles,” adds Dr Haror.
To get rid of dark circles around your eyes, you should do these facial and yoga eye exercises regularly. If you still face the issue, then contact your dermatologist to know the insights about your condition.
