Don’t we all love those days when the sound of pitter-patter rain soothes our mind? It also brings with it a lovely breeze that we can’t get enough of. That being said, it wreaks havoc on our hair in so many ways. Yes ladies, most of us go through endless issues like frizzy hair and dry scalp. Although shampoo companies try their best to sell all kinds of products to the public, remember the answer always lies in the kitchen. And that’s exactly what celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar has shared with us in her recent post.

She has shared with us the secret to making a DIY champi that we can’t wait to try out.

“That’s vala (vetiver or khus roots), goonja seeds (rosary pea) and good old tulsi with its beej or seeds.”

Here’s how you can make it:

1. Take a glass bottle with a broad bottom.
2. Put 2-3 vala roots, 1-2 tulsi stocks, 1-2 goonja seeds and put them in the bottle.
3. Pour coconut or mustard oil into the bottle and leave it to soak in the herbs for 48 hours.
4. Leave the oil on overnight and wash. No need for a conditioner. Use the weather and not the blower to dry.

Here’s what Rujuta added in humour, “Invite your girl friends or cousins over, and give each other a good head, neck and shoulder massage. Enjoy chai and bhajiya while at it, give duniya ko gaali and feel happy for having each other in this zaalim duniya. Also, for having these wonderful herbs.”

It’s also great for hair fall! Yes, there’s a study that testifies to that. As per a 2016 study, researchers found out that regular scalp massages helped with thicker hair growth. The study saw the participation of nine men, who got a four-minute scalp massage every day for 24 weeks. Another study in 2019 further validated this claim. The study that included survey responses from 340 participants found that those who did scalp massages twice a day had reduced hair loss.

So, wait no more and enjoy a champi every now and then!
