Symptoms Of New Virus H3N2 Influenza

H3N2, a new Covid-19 like virus, has struck India. So far, two fatalities have been reported. It is the most prevalent subtype of influenza and is spreading quickly.

H3N2 is a subtype of Influenza A virus, a significant contributor to human influenza. Many symptoms of respiratory infection are caused by it.

What is H3N2 Influenza Virus?

According to India's Health Ministry, there are at least 451 confirmed cases of H3N2 since the start of this year, following a nationwide surveillance exercise. At least 2 people have died.

People with H3N2 infection exhibit symptoms including fever, cough, shortness of breath, wheezing, and pneumonia that are similar to Covid-19.

Moreover, you might also feel sick, vomit, have body aches, nausea, diarrhoea, and other non-respiratory and respiratory symptoms.

This seasonal flu can spread from person to person through contact with droplets on hands and surfaces or through droplets from an infected person's cough or sneeze.

How does the virus spread?

Since so far it has Covid-19 symptoms, the Health Ministry has advised social distancing and mask wear in order to stop the virus from spreading.

Always keep your hands clean. If you're symptomatic, wear a mask, stay inside, cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, drink lots of water, avoid touching your eyes, and follow the treatment.

Do's

Avoid shaking hands and any physical contact. Do not use public toilets or spit in public. Do not sit next to one another or consume food together. Don't use the medication without consulting a doctor.

Don'ts

There is no need to fear despite the fact that 2 deaths have been reported. This influenza virus is seasonal and will eventually go away. However, keep an eye on the symptoms and follow all the precautions.
