A persistent cough that lasts for more than three weeks is one of the hallmark symptoms of TB. The cough may produce phlegm or blood, particularly in advanced stages of the disease.

Chest pain is common in TB patients, especially when coughing or breathing deeply. The pain may spread across the chest and it can worsen over time as the infection progresses.
As TB advances, it can lead to inflammation and damage to the lungs, resulting in shortness of breath. Difficulty breathing may worsen as the disease progresses.
In some cases, TB can cause the lymph nodes to swell, particularly those in the neck, armpits, or groin. Swollen lymph nodes may be tender to the touch and can indicate active infection.
