9 Reasons Why You May Snore While Sleeping

Snoring can be brought on by a variety of things, but it often happens when the airway between the mouth and nose is partially blocked while you're sleeping.  Here are some common causes of snoring.

Certain physical characteristics of the throat and airways can contribute to snoring. For example, a low, thick, or elongated soft palate, enlarged tonsils or adenoids.

Excess body weight, especially around the neck and throat area, can narrow the airways and cause snoring.

Obesity

Snoring is more likely to occur as people age because their throat muscles tend to get weaker and lose their tone.

Alcohol loosens the throat muscles, which can cause the airway to narrow and lead to snoring.
