Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is characterized by a tendency to have attention deficit, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Those who have it can face difficulties in doing daily activities and may even find it difficult to pay attention and control their behaviour sometimes. ADHD was thought of primarily as a childhood disorder earlier. But now we know from studies that it is not the case. ADHD in adults is becoming increasingly recognizable in clinical practice in the last decade.
The prevalence of ADHD is not clear, but at least 7.5 percent of the population can have this concern. In our country, the majority of this is unrecognized and unmanaged. Several studies show the impact of not managing ADHD in all spheres of one’s functioning, including academic underachievement, job instability, relationship difficulties, substance misuse, and a host of physical health disorders including obesity and cardiovascular morbidity.
So, instead of wondering whether you have ADHD or not, take this quiz designed by Dr Vinod Kumar, Consultant Psychiatrist And Psychotherapist, Head-Mpower-The Centre, Bengaluru, for Health Shots, with the help of a simple screening questionnaire shared by World Health Organization (WHO).
