Cleaned your face with a moisturizing face wash or one which will control oil after being exposed to dirt, dust, pollution, and harsh sunlight? Then used toner and lather up with your favorite moisturiser? While your daily skincare ritual takes care of your face and hands, your feet tend to get ignored. Agreed that some women even apply moisturizer on their feet after soaking them in warm water. Sometimes that’s not enough and your feet screams for better care. This calls for a good foot massage at home before sleeping. It’s best to go for foot massage at night as it has many benefits and your feet will thank you for it.

Weekdays are long and tiring, so after working hard, a foot massage is a perfect way to relax and have a good night’s sleep. Dr Rohilla said that massaging feet at night helps to “increase blood circulation, thereby maintaining good health.” She shared that it is often recommended for women who go through premenstrual syndrome (PMS) or someone who is experiencing menopausal symptoms.
Explaining why a foot massage is better at night, she said that a foot rub before sleep is highly recommended and not when the day starts as in the beginning of the day, you need energy. And for that simple reason, massages are for the night. Suffering from headaches, migraines or depression? Get a foot massage as you can find great relief from it.
You finally decide to get a foot massage, but wondering which oil to use? Usually, coconut oil is highly preferred for any season or any skin type. The expert said that it has no harmful effects, is not too harsh on the skin or body and is easily available in the market.
If you want an oil for a soothing effect, you can go for lavender oil. Rose, peppermint and jojoba oils are also some of the oils you can choose from. But before picking anything, get in touch with your doctor to know what can suit you the best or if any particular oil may have side effects.
Though foot massage is something that every woman deserves, there are some who should avoid it. Rohilla said that if you have had history of blood clots or have swollen feet, you should not go for a massage and also get medical supervision. Foot fractures or unhealed wounds are also warning signs, so get in touch with your doctor.
As for women with no health complications, sit and get your feet massaged to just relax, heal period pains, reduce ache or improve blood circulation.
