Method:

Benefits:

This drink is highly nutritive. Also, since alcohol causes the body to dehydrate, this drink will allow the body to rehydrate. It is a great drink to get rid of alcohol toxins, and replenish your body with electrolytes, suggests the expert.

Keep the hangover at bay with these tips:

Excess alcohol consumption can give a headache, fatigue, nausea, and make you dehydrated for several hours. So, it is important to note a few points, suggests Dr Honey Savla, Internal Medicine, Wockhardt Hospital.

  • It is important to avoid dehydration.. So, drink 2 to 3 litres of liquids and have a light calorie meal.
  • Ensure that you have a good amount of sleep of 6 to 8 hours.
  • Have a bland diet and avoid spicy food
  • Take a good amount of thiamine (vitamin B) if you have indulged in binge drinking. Cereals, rice, wheat, maida, poha, and rava are great sources of vitamin B. You can also have multi-grain bread, fortified cereals, whole-wheat pasta, pulses or lentils such as moong dal, masoor dal and chana dal as they are loaded with Vitamin B1.

A vital hangover tip

According to Dr Salva, many medications are metabolized (meaning broken down) by the liver and kidneys. These are the same organs that your body uses to metabolize alcohol, which can leave those two organs working overtime, and possibly not performing their best. In such cases, one should use painkillers and sedatives, or do it with utmost precaution.
