You must have felt this uneasy, burning, and bloated feeling in your stomach after an enjoyable family dinner. Well, we have all been there. However, stomach trouble is the last way you want to remember a great meal. But, if your stomach gets angry after every greasy and spicy meal, do you need to eat plain khichdi or daliya for life? That won’t be necessary. Because your kitchen is loaded with ingredients that aid digestion and can keep your stomach and gut happy.

What causes stomach problems?

Food with carbohydrates, sugar and fiber are broken down in your large intestine. The process of breakdown of food creates gas in your colon that can cause stomach issues like indigestion, bloating and acid reflux. These problems can result in frequent visits to the loo and keep you on your toes!

If you always get that need-to-burp feeling after a meal, Luke Coutinho, a health expert, shared an all natural remedy that can help you. Coutinho, who has a huge following on Instagram, often shares holistic health remedies on his social media handle. Surprisingly, the remedy he shared can be taken after each meal to relieve the feeling of indigestion, acidity and uneasiness in the stomach.

Here’s how you can make this stomach-friendly digestive mix:

  1. Take a bowl and add 2 tbsp of cumin (jeera)
  2. Add 2 tbsp of fennel (saunf)
  3. Add 2 tbsp of  bishop’s weed (ajwain)
  4. Add 2 tbsp of black sesame seeds
  5. Squeeze a lemon in it
  6. Mix these together, cover and keep for 4 hours
  7. Heat a pan, give the mix a light roast
  8. Sprinkle some turmeric and pure rock salt for extra goodness and taste
  9. Store in an airtight jar.
  10. Pop after each meal to aid digestion

Sharing this amazing remedy, Coutinho writes in his caption, “Made this as a digestive mix to eat post meals. I eat this to cut sugar cravings post meals too. Does it work? You gotta try it to believe it. Each of these ingredients are documented in science to help with digestion, digestive enzymes, stomach acid and reduce excess gas build up. I’ve been having a tablespoon of this post meal for 5 days. It cuts any form of sweet cravings for me and many others. Hope it works for you. This mix is rich in calcium and micronutrients too.”

In love with this crunchy post-meal snack, Coutinho even shared a picture of this digestive mix too. Check his post here:

What is your go-to-technique for relieving body pain?

Our goal should be to understand how to optimize the food we eat to improve digestion and maximize the absorption of key nutrients.

6 simple things you can to for your stomach’s sake

1. Change the way you breathe

Believe it or not, but most of us don’t understand the art of breathing. The rule is to take deep breaths to fill up the lungs properly and exhale to ensure no extra gas is left behind in your system.

2. Change the way you eat

Including more fibre in your diet is the key. Moreover, you need to have a balanced diet in order to ensure you’re consuming every nutrient that your body needs.

3. Chew your food properly

If you think chewing is just another task, you are highly mistaken. You need to follow the 32-times-chewing rule. Therefore, keep your mouth closed while you chew otherwise you can swallow a lot of air which can make you gassy.

4. Don’t hold your farts

It can be embarrassing but holding in your farts can turn out to be utterly uncomfortable. It can lead to severe pain in the abdominal region and make you feel bloated.

5. Don’t stay still

Most of us are working from home these days and thanks to Covid-19, there is hardly any scope for us to get out of our homes. Therefore, we’re also losing out on regular physical activity. So, ensure that you stand up and move around after every hour. Moreover, an hour long exercise session at home can improve things drastically.
