The science of Ayurveda dates to centuries ago. And its practices have earned themselves a reputation of holistic healthcare. One such amazing practice is drinking sun charged water. As per Ayurveda, when sunlight falls upon water, it boosts its molecular structure and switches it from ‘dead water’ to ‘living water’.
It is often hailed as ‘Surya Chikitsa‘ or the Ayurvedic art of solarised water healing. Ayurveda emphasizes the usage of ‘Suryanshu Santaptam‘ water which translates as ‘water purified in solar energy’. It is a deep-rooted treatment, classified in the Atharva Veda as Surya Kiran Chikitsaâ, healing with sun rays.
To know more about sun energized water, HealthShots spoke to Ayurveda expert Dr Ipsita Chatterjee.
“Irrespective of the bottle used, the sunlight absorbed in water charges and brings back ‘life’. The microbial load decreases owing to the UV rays of the nurturing sunlight. In addition, the heat and light simmer and oxidize water, making it radiant with energy. Sun-charged water is a stellar route for overall health and wellbeing. It is known to increase your energy levels and reduce inflammation in your body,” says Chatterjee, technical head, Soultree.
Apart from the sense of healing, rejuvenation and nurturing, there are a plethora of benefits that can be availed through drinking solarized water. Some of the benefits are listed below:
There is another extension of solarised water in Ayurveda. It is done by charging water in different coloured bottles under the rays of the sun called the art of Ayurvedic chromotherapy.
Offering a multitude of benefits, solarised watercolour therapy infuses the water with vibrational energy and is also used for ‘Chakra Healing‘.
