Believe it or not, we neglect taking care of or cleaning certain body parts too often. Isn’t it? Well, all parts and areas of your body are equally important and need some care so that they can function properly. The way workout for getting abs is important, doing regular exercise is also important for your knees to keep them in good shape.

Your body is smart, and it reacts accordingly whenever you don’t take care of it properly. In fact, this can welcome dangers to your health, leading to an infection to something serious. However, knowing those areas of your body can help reduce the chances of dangers.

Let us look at the 8 neglected body parts that need some care according to Dr. Sachin Dhawan, Senior Consultant, Department of Dermatology, Fortis Memorial Research Institute.

8 neglected body parts which need love:

1. Neck

You tend to ignore the neck sometimes even though we wash the face. But make sure that when you wash the face, you wash the neck too. The neck tends to accumulate a lot of dead skin so one has to do gentle scrubbing with a natural scrub, not harsh scrubs, once a week. If you put on weight, the neck becomes darker so one has to exercise regularly so that the weight is under control and the neck skin remains clean, light in colour.

2. Knee

Knees hold the weight of your body. Due to exercises, there is friction and the skin becomes thick, dry and dark. So ensure that if you exercise, you do it on a soft mat so that friction does not cause the knees to become thick. The skin shouldn’t become dark. And one should be using a good moisturizer for the knee area. Preferably something that contains lactic acid or urea that should be applied every night on the knee area. And again, a bit of body scrub. Once a week perhaps focusing on the knee area is important.

3. Armpits

Yes, these are also among neglected body parts! Remove the hair frequently for hygiene to be maintained and one should use antiperspirant without any fragrance in it so that there are no allergies and darkness. Antiperspirant will reduce the sweat in that area and prevent any infections from happening. Again, armpits also become darker if you use products which cause allergies. There are underarm creams with retinol, and these should be applied every night so that there is gentle exfoliation of the skin in the underarms and the skin remains clean, uniform in colour and doesn’t become dark.

5. Inner thighs

Inner thighs is an area that is sweat prone. So it’s easy to get fungal infections in that area. So you have to ensure that if you do any exercise, use a talcum free powder. If you exercise, take a quick clean shower. The hair in that area should be managed well like in the armpits. In addition to that, the undergarments have to be very soft and comfortable. Avoid synthetic undergarments, otherwise irritation allergies, rashes happen in the inner thigh areas.

6. Knuckles

To clean knuckles, one should use the urea based moisturizer and scrub once a week. Don’t use a very harsh handwash because that will cause the skin on the hands to become dry. The knuckles will become dark with strong handwash.

7. Feet

Foot cream should be applied every night. And you should try to air the feet as much as possible. Socks should not be worn on all the time. Footwear should not be very tight so that in between the toes fungal infections don’t develop. Make sure that the nails are cut properly so that there is no fungal infection in the nails, and your footwear should be well fitting and cushioned so that corns and calluses don’t develop.

8. Belly button

Your belly button is prone to moisture accumulation because sometimes you don’t clean it well, especially if the stomach is really heavy. So make sure that you dry the belly button area well after bath using a soft cloth or tissue. And again, that’s an area where a little bit of moisturizer should be applied because dryness can happen in that area.

So ladies, while indulging in self care do not forget these body parts of yours!
