Turmeric is a staple in Indian cuisine and is celebrated for its vibrant colour, distinct flavour and numerous health benefits. “It also has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce inflammation on the tongue,” says Dr Deshmukh.
Make a simple turmeric paste by combining 1-2 tablespoons of milk with 1/4 teaspoon of honey. Apply the mixture to the tongue using your finger or an earbud and leave it on for about 10 minutes. Rinse your mouth carefully afterwards.
Glycerine can moisturise and has soothing properties as well that can help alleviate discomfort and promote healing. Make sure to use pure glycerine and don’t mix it with rose water or lemon like we usually do.
Apply a small amount of glycerine directly to the burned area of the tongue using your finger or a Q-tip. Leave it on, and eventually, it will be swallowed, which has no harm as it is safe for consumption. Repeat this process as needed to ease the pain and expedite healing.
Well, if you want to soothe your burnt tongue then milk is one of the best remedies to provide instant relief. Squishing milk in the mouth can provide instant relief from a burnt tongue. Milk creates a protective coating that soothes the affected area.
Take a mouthful of cold milk and squish it around in your mouth. Hold it over the burned tongue for a few moments before spitting it out. Repeat this procedure multiple times throughout the day to alleviate discomfort and promote healing.
Tulsi, or holy basil, offers various health benefits, including soothing a burnt tongue. Dr Deshmukh explains that tulsi is renowned for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, which can help reduce inflammation and alleviate the pain associated with a burnt tongue.
Take five to six tulsi leaves from a green or black tulsi plant and wash them thoroughly to remove any impurities. Chew the tulsi leaves at least twice daily for a week. Regular use can help alleviate the discomfort and promote healing of blisters on the tongue.

Ice is a simple yet effective remedy for treating burns, including those on the tongue. “Ice exhibits anti-inflammatory properties that aid in diminishing swelling and facilitating the healing process,” says Dr Deshmukh.
Place a small ice cube on your tongue until you feel a slight numbness. Or you can also add 4-5 ice-cubes in a glass of water and squish it around your mouth. Repeat this method two to three times a day for immediate relief from tongue blisters.
According to Dr Deshmukh, yogurt is a versatile food that offers anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antioxidant properties. It not only promotes overall health but also aids in the healing of tongue burns.
Consume a small bowl of plain yogurt to treat a burnt tongue. The soothing properties of yogurt can provide relief from tongue blisters and help speed up the healing process.
Honey is well-known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce inflammation and fight off bacteria. “Nevertheless, it is important to refrain from offering honey to infants below the age of one year,” advises Dr Deshmukh.
Take a tablespoon of honey and let it dissolve in your mouth for some time. Swallow it gradually, allowing it to coat the affected area. Repeat this process two to three times for quick relief from a burnt tongue.
