And guess what, there are countless benefits of dropping the pounds if you’re overweight and obese. But how would you know if you’re really losing weight? Well, there are many signs of weight loss which indicate progress in your journey.

HealthShots spoke to Dr Aparna Govil Bhasker, Laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon, Saifee Hospital, Apollo Spectra, Namaha, and Currae Hospitals, Mumbai to understand the signs and symptoms of weight loss. She said steady weight loss of 0.5-1.0 kg per week is a significant sign of successful weight loss. If the diet is followed under the guidance of an expert, you are more likely to have a smooth weight loss journey. However, if you want to find out if you’re making progress in your weight loss journey or not, look out for the signs and symptoms mentioned below.

Some important signs of progress in weight loss, according to Dr Bhasker:

1. You won’t get cravings or hunger pangs all the time

If your weight loss diet is well planned and is high in protein and fiber, it will make you feel full faster and also delay the subsequent meal by keeping you energetic for a longer time. “A high fiber diet helps to curb cravings for sugary and fatty foods”, said Dr Bhasker. So if you’re not craving and your hunger pangs are under control then yes you’re positively losing weight.

Over a period of time, you will become flexible, won’t feel tired easily, and can do any task more efficiently. So even if you are trying to lose weight and your energy level is high that means you are on the right track.
