Crash diets are a thing of the past. We are moving towards a fitness-conscious world, not in a world obsessed with slender bodies and the quixotic fantasy of aping any celebrity’s appearance. Each body is unique and different in its own way. However, belly fat is an open invitation to many life-altering and fatal diseases. Curves may be embraced but a hanging apron belly needs to be tucked in for many health reasons.

Health Shots got in touch with Ayurveda expert Vikas Chawla, who rolled out Ayurvedic ways to melt those belly rolls without starving yourself.

Chawla says, “There is a growing understanding that there are different body types, shapes and builds that are unique and beautiful in different ways. Ayurveda has always given importance to fitness in the form of mind-body-soul wellness rather than time-bound unhealthy weight loss diets that are ultimately harmful to a person’s overall body functioning in the long run.”

Here are Ayurveda tips you can follow for healthier weight loss and to burn belly fat:

1.  Eat 3 meals

This sounds strange! It is a widely spread misconception that skipping meals can lead to weight loss. Quite contrarily, it can cause problems like anorexia, body image issues, and even worse hormonal imbalances and erratic behavioral changes.

Chawla says, “Skipping meals is prohibited in Ayurvedic thinking. Having 3 proper meals is a must to strike a balance and give your body adequate fuel for functioning. However, those meals should be rich in nutritional value and easily digestible components like fruits, nuts or veggies and preferably not be fried, fatty or junk food. One should also avoid binge-eating, stress eating or snacking in between the specified time for meals to refrain from overeating.”

2. Have a light dinner before 7 pm

Ayurveda focuses on not what you eat but when you eat too. One of the most popular advice by Ayurvedic experts that is followed by many fitness enthusiasts is to eat a light and sober dinner before 7 p.m. It allows a long window for the stomach to empty itself and digest the food. It also aids the overnight detoxification process and purifies the system which makes us feel charged up and active in the morning. You should go for salads, soups, or steamed veggies at night so that it is easy for the stomach to digest the food and cleanse the system.

3. Exercise is mandatory

You got to move it, girl. It might be a little challenging for the first few days for the first-timers or those who are resuming physical exercise after a long break. But exercise is a very important tool for an effective fat-burning process and a faster metabolism rate.

“You can choose any activity of your choice and do it on a regular basis without fail like walking, running, cycling, yoga, or swimming. Yoga is the ultimate go-to-option for overall body welfare and weight loss, it makes you more flexible, agile and nimble,” says Chawla.

4. Add hot water to your morning ritual

“According to Ayurvedic literature, hot water carries elements that burn belly fat and dissolve it easily. You can also add lemon and ginger to hot water to give it a different flavour and raise its goodness. Sipping hot water in the morning will eliminate toxins from your body and boost energy levels for the rest of the day.” Chawla told HealthShots.

The main point here to understand is that it gives importance to a balanced diet and wellness additions in life rather than suggesting impractical or fatuous dietary suggestions for drastic weight loss or quick but vain results.
