There is a huge amount of information available about what is, and what is not permissible during IVF treatment. Remembering all of that information may be difficult, confusing, and time-consuming. Errors or mistakes are the result of human fallibility. However, some mistakes are not only costly, but also disheartening. Errors during IVF treatment can be caused by more than just chance. Emotions such as anxiety and fear can be seen on the faces of the couples undergoing these procedures.

But before we get to the details, let’s first understand IVF or in-vitro fertilization.

What is IVF?

This procedure entails extracting eggs from a female’s ovary, fertilizing them with fresh sperm in a laboratory, and placing them back in the uterus. Though it appears to be simple, IVF involves a number of steps from the beginning to the end of the pregnancy, ranging from medications to help the eggs mature to creating embryos and replanting them in the uterus.

A married couple’s dream at a certain stage is to welcome the days of parenthood. What happens when this joyful dream is shattered by the negative outcome of the IVF cycle?

We’ve put together a list of 5 most common mistakes that couples make when pursuing IVF treatments.

1. You’ve been putting off IVF for far too long

Waiting is one of the most common mistakes that childless couples make. It is a myth that females should wait until they are 35 years old to undergo IVF for the best results. Females are thought to prefer experimenting with their bodies at a younger age, which is incorrect.

According to IVF success experts, “The more candles on your birthday cake, the lower the chances of IVF success.” IVF procedures are based on the cause of infertility, with age playing a minor role. Consult with your IVF specialist to determine the best time for you to try the treatment.

2. Do you trust the internet more than your doctor?

As we all know, online search engines are both a boon and a curse. The amount of information available online is both incredible and infuriating. It is extremely useful to compare your IVF cycle’s progress and early signs with everyone else’s. However, comparisons will not answer your questions. Resist the urge to use Google to predict or diagnose. Instead, consult your doctor if you have a question or want to learn more about IVF precautions.

3. Having a terrible state with IVF routines

It is acceptable to have an unorganized wardrobe, but not an unorganized daily routine, particularly when it comes to IVF treatment. If you have a habit of forgetting your daily tasks, being organized ahead of time is the best solution. You should not skip your doctor’s appointments and try not to run out of essential medications. To say that IVF is a massive procedure is an understatement. So, try to keep your activities as organized as possible.

4. Taking breaks throughout the process

We’ve already mentioned how physically demanding IVF treatment is. However, this does not imply that you must sleep through the entire procedure. Laziness and waiting for results both contribute to the development of stressful thoughts. We are not suggesting that you engage in strenuous activities. Give your body the rest it needs, and go about your daily activities as usual.

5. Being highly stressed

It goes without saying that IVF exhausts you. This treatment will take you and your partner into a different realm. It’s no surprise that the process is mentally and physically exhausting, but couples often experience stress during the parenthood journey. This added stress is dangerous because it has a direct impact on your medical outcomes. In addition to reducing your stress, you should look for ways to help yourself rest and calm. Have a nice lunch or dinner with your spouse, watch a fun movie, or do something relaxing.

The last word

The process of in-vitro fertilization does not come with a guarantee card. The treatment works differently for each couple based on their infertility issues, overall health, and so on. However, avoiding the aforementioned IVF mistakes during treatment can improve your chances of conceiving a child.
