There’s no denying that we all love Virushka, and ever since they announced their pregnancy, their fans can’t stop swooning over their adorable pictures! And the recent Instagram post by Anushka giving major fitness goals to all mommies-to-be. Trust us, this post is all you need to kickstart your healthy pregnancy journey.

In the post, Anushka can be seen doing sirsasana under the supervision of her yoga tutor, and obviously with the support of her husband, Virat! Captioning her recent post, Anushka wrote, “This exercise is ‘hands-down’ (and legs up) the most difficult one.”

“P.S. – As yoga is a big part of my life, my doctor recommended that I can do all such asanas that I was doing before I was pregnant (after a certain stage) barring twists & extreme-forward bends, but of course with the appropriate and required support,” she further adds. “For the sirsasana, which I have been doing for many years, I ensured that I used the wall for support and also my very able husband supporting me to balance, to be extra safe. This was also done under the supervision of my yoga teacher @eefa_shrof who was there with me virtually through this session. I’m so glad I could continue my practice through my pregnancy”

Sirsasana or a headstand is widely known for the several benefits it provides, from increasing the blood flow and improving memory, to also aiding digestion and releasing stress.

So, can you also continue with headstand during pregnancy?

See, it completely depends on your body. So, listen to what your body has to say, and do not forget to consult with your doctor and yoga teacher, before starting with any yoga practice during pregnancy.

Also, you need to be more careful with yoga poses when pregnant. As Anushka wrote, during pregnancy you can do yoga but only up till a certain stage. Moreover, even then you need to be careful or might want to completely avoid certain poses, such as bow pose, forward bend, chakrasana or full wheel, twisted chair to name a few.
