From the moment your mother conceives to the whole life you live with her, she witnesses your growth and takes care of you at every step in life. However, when you are mature enough to understand her needs and take care of her, it is essential to take some steps to ensure her well-being too. Considering Mother’s Day 2022 as a reminder, we are listing ways to keep your mom’s health in great form.
Health Shots got in touch with Dr Rachana Shetty, Physician, Livlong, to understand how to gift good health to our mom on this Mother’s Day.
Dr Shetty says, “With the increasing age, a female body encounters hundreds of issues – physical and emotional. It is essential to know the issues and get the treatment to avoid the severe problems affecting her overall health.
Most of the time, the health issues present in the body dwell inside and do not manifest themselves. When they do, it gets too late, and the problem becomes severely critical. Therefore, for timely detection of health problems, routine check-ups are necessary. You must take your mother to the doctor at least once a month and get an overall check-up done so that the problem can be detected at an early stage and timely treatment can be given.
For people’s convenience, online consultations are also available nowadays, where the doctor can be consulted from the comfort of the home itself.
To have complete satisfaction health-wise, get the required tests done so that if there is any problem that is going on inside the body, it comes to light, and timely treatment can be given accordingly.
Since people become forgetful in old age and often miss out on taking their medicines, it becomes our responsibility to take care of their medication. Ensure that your mother takes medicines timely, in the appropriate amounts, and according to her medical conditions.
In old age, everything a person eats affects their body. Hence, the diet your mother needs to be taken care of. Include more green leafy vegetables and fresh fruits. Avoid spicy and oily food, which would have absolute adverse effects on the body. To keep the body hydrated, give fresh juices and at least 3-4 liters of water.
As our moms age, it is important to include physical activities in the daily routine to keep bones and muscles healthy. Take your mother out for a walk, and make her do some yoga at home or in a garden. Do some light exercises with her, which keep her physically and mentally fit and ensure bone and muscle health.
On this Mother’s day, take a pledge to spend more time with your mom and inspire her to take care of herself as much as she does for others.
