What’s the solution? An expert tells us that essential oils for joint and knee pain can do wonders!

Knee and joint pain might make it difficult to go about your everyday routine. There are, nevertheless, ways to feel better. Essential oils derived from plants, as well as over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription medications, may be therapeutic.

Dr Chaitali Deshmukh, Ayurvedic expert, Birla Ayurveda, spoke to Health Shot about it. He says, “Essential oils have been in use for thousands of years. Aromatherapy is the practice of using plants for therapeutic or medical purposes. Essential oils are made from the fragrance components of a plant, usually the bark, leaves, or peel. You may smell them when the plant is crushed. Special steaming processes help to intensify the aroma.”

Essential oils have a strong scent. That is not, however, what makes you feel better. The plant’s chemicals have an effect on your mind and body. They enter your bloodstream when you massage the oil on your skin or breathe it in.

5 essential oils that can help with joint and knee pain, suggested by Dr Chaitali Deshmukh:

1. Lemongrass essential oil

Lemongrass essential oil is extensively used in Ayurvedic medicine to alleviate arthritic symptoms like joint pain and inflammation. Lemongrass oil has astringent properties, which means that when consumed, it can drain excess fluid from bodily tissue, reducing inflammation and swelling while also improving mobility.

Many households and places that seek to create a relaxing and pleasant ambiance use lavender essential oil. This is due to the fact that lavender essential oil can aid in the reduction of stress and anxiety. But that isn’t the only advantage of this powerful oil. The anti-inflammatory and analgesic (pain-relieving) characteristics of lavender essential oil make it an excellent essential oil for both mental and physical well-being. It has anti-inflammatory qualities, which can help to reduce inflammation around joints.

3. Eucalyptus essential oil

“Eucalyptus essential oil can relieve joint and muscular discomfort because of its therapeutic characteristics. Eucalyptus essential oil’s soothing and cooling properties contribute to its anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic capabilities, lowering tension and offering pain relief,” says Dr Deshmukh.

4. Rosemary essential oil

Rosemary is known for its anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. As a result, rosemary essential oil is a great option for people who have inflammation or joint pain.
