Are you addicted to your smartphone? On World Health Day, resolve to follow these tips to reduce your phone usage and lead a stress-free life, as well as increase productivity.
Keep your device away from your bed: This might seem familiar to you! Whenever you go to sleep, in just 10 minutes or less, you tend to pick your phone and scroll away. Doing so can disturb your sleep and impact you tremendously. So don't charge your phone near your bed and keep it out of sight. That way it won't distract you and you can sleep well. Track your daily usage: In order to reduce daily phone use, the next step you can take is to start analysing how much you use your phone through some kind of app. Tracking your cell phone use will help you to get aware of the extent of your problem and then you can begin to identify goals and possible solutions. Turn off as many push notifications as possible: Yes, our phone is essentially to increase our connectivity, but turn off all the unnecessary notifications or turn on 'do not disturb' (DND) mode, especially when you are at work and going to sleep so that you can disable all the notifications. However, you can still read all the notifications next time you use your device. Doing so can help you reduce the urge to use the phone. Image courtesy: Shutterstock
Keep yourself on a schedule: Besides tracking the daily phone usage, it's important to set limits. Set alarms specifying how often you can check your phone. You can start with every 15-20 minutes, then move to every half an hour, and then 45 minutes. So when you reach your maximum time limit, keep your phone aside and try to do something else to keep yourself busy. That's it, make a habit of it. Image courtesy: Shutterstock
