When it comes to our kids, we simply don’t want to compromise on their health. We do a lot when it comes to giving them a healthy diet, but what about keeping them physically active? Well, you can rely on Yoga to keep your kiddos fit and healthy. None other than Shilpa Shetty, too, swears by this!

Shilpa, is known not just for her acting and dancing chops, but also her fitness prowess. Especially when it comes to yoga, Shilpa is an inspiration to her followers and fans as she has been promoting yoga as a healthy lifestyle choice for many years. Shilpa shares her love for yoga with her fans by demonstrating asanas and sharing insights in importance of yoga every Monday for some #MondayMotivation.

This Monday, she took to Instagram to share a video of her kids – son Viaan and daughter Samisha – bonding over yoga. She mentioned in her caption that she has been trying to teach both her kids the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.

Shilpa wrote, “Kids are like wet clay. We must mould their approach towards a healthier lifestyle early. Inculcating the habit of enjoying a balanced diet, staying fit, and gaining control over the mind and soul is crucial. That’s exactly what I’ve tried to do with Viaan, and now, to see him take over the role and teach his little follower, Samisha, makes me so proud. Seeing them bond over yoga is truly the kind of Monday motivation I need to stay fit and healthy, with them and for them.”

In her post, you can see how Viaan attempts inversion yoga poses, and Samisha tries to follow along. Shilpa is constantly encouraging her children in the video post, in which Viaan is demonstrating unsupported shoulder stand (Niralamba Sarvangasana) and wheel pose (Chakrasana).

When doing the unsupported shoulder stand, Viaan starts off by lying flat on his back, and then slowly begins to lift his legs. Keeping the legs straight, and feet pointed, he continued to raise his legs, till his lower back came off the mat. Viaan used his hands to support his back.

For wheel pose, Viaan lay straight on his back and then bent his knees, keeping the feet hip distance apart. He then bent his elbows and brought his palms, overhead under the shoulders. He then pressed into his palms and slowly lifted his hips and upper body, to form an arc.

These poses are an excellent way to develop flexibility, bodily balance, and muscle strength. Not only does regularly practising inversion yoga tone up your body, but it can also improve your overall workout productivity and posture.

Kids should be encouraged to indulge in physical activities such as yoga. However, due precautions and supervision must be in place.

So, ladies, yoga is not just beneficial for your health, but also for your little ones!
