That’s the thing about an oily face: It doesn’t just make you look like a shiny and well—a greasy disco ball, it can even give you the much-dreaded acne on the face.

After all, the excessive oil is a magnet for dirt and dust, which when trapped can clog the skin pores and lead to an acne breakout, making your life worse.

At least, that’s what the state of my affairs was up until last month. And I was losing it because of a host of weddings I have to attend this month.

Skin-drying face washes, pimple-drying lotions, and a complete ban on oil-based moisturisers was implemented, but to no effect.

And then came mom, with pity and mitti
Fuller’s earth, popularly known as multani mitti in most Indian households, was mom’s wonder ingredient this time around. And she promised it would control the oiliness on my face and help fight acne, while making my skin glow too.

Tempted by the many benefits listed by her, I decided to give it a try. Multani mitti powder mixed with water till it turned into a thick, consistent paste became my go-to facepack for the days to follow.

I applied it on my face every alternate day, left it on to dry and washed it off with water approximately 10-15 minutes later.

The result?
Well, it could be seen within the first application. When I tried it for the first time and washed my face after leaving it on for some time, I could see my skin looking fresher and also dryer.

While a water-based moisturiser dealt with the dryness, the oil still remained in check and the acne started getting better. As usual, mom’s remedy showed effect as promised.

Mom’s got science’s back
Nope, multani mitti did not show its magical effect under mom’s pressure or out of her fear. It did so because of its natural properties.

According to a study, published in the International Journal of Research in Ayurveda and Pharmacy, multani mitti is packed with a host of vitamins and minerals that replenish the skin and make it stronger against bacterial action and acne-causing germs.

That’s not it. Multani mitti is also known to naturally possess oil-absorbing properties, which is exactly what makes it a harmless, natural oil controller, thus preventing your face from looking like a grease factory.

Not to mention, lesser oil means lesser dust attracted to the skin and no clogged pores. The result? A fresh acne-free face in life.

Here’s how you can use it if you’ve got an oily skin just like mine
Though I took the easy way out and simply mixed multani mitti powder in some water and applied it on the face—a research published in the Open Dermatology Journal recommends making a herbal pack at home by mixing ingredients like multani mitti, green tea, saffron, gram flour, turmeric, shwet chandan and milk powder for added benefits.

So, without further ado, bring multani mitti to your rescue right now!
