The year 2020 has been the most trying with regard to our mental health. Shortly after we welcomed the year with fervour and enthusiasm, the whole world was gripped by the outbreak of covid-19 pandemic—which led to prolonged and stringent lockdowns in different countries across the world. While a few managed to keep their mental health and balance intact, there were many who had to battle depression-like syndromes. The year that’s about to go by has left innumerable questions pertaining to health concerns such as immunity and mental well-being and life securities.
As we gear up to welcome another new year, we are doing so with a mind full of apprehensions and doubts. Even as authorities have ensured that the vaccine is on its way, most people are still not sure about when the effect of the novel virus would wane and when actually life would return to normalcy. But this is exactly what we need to refrain from doing as we enter the year 2021.
The upcoming year can usher in a new lease of life for us if we keep a few things into consideration and imbibe them in our day-to-day lives. The first and foremost thing we need to do is focus more on building the core of eating right, loving better, and praying to the best of our capabilities. By adhering to all these aspects, you can aim for holistic wellness rather than just focusing on any one aspect.
When the aforementioned components are adhered to and taken care of in the right quantity as well as quality, it would lead us to a state of wellness wherein our mental health is taken care of.
We can further keep our mental health intact by making ourselves more active socially. While we can stay in touch with different like-minded people, we can also become a part of common groups and communities wherein we can share our thoughts on concerns that affect us all.
Fact remains that barring frontline Covid warriors, almost all of us have spent most part of 2020 inside our homes. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to state that the pandemic placed us practically in a house arrest. Therefore, taking a step out of home to indulge in socially relevant group activities will help in easing out the pressures of life.
Apart from these, we might also explore the possibility of making exercise and workout a part of our daily lives. Making exercising and working out a part of our regular routine would eventually help us get to a happier and healthier outlook to the whole situation and life in general.
And last but not the least, we should try to remain as close to nature as possible. If there’s one adverse outcome of the rapid technological innovations taking place around us, it is that we have become a little too distant from nature and its boons.
Most of us spend our time engrossed in our smartphones and laptops despite knowing the harmful effects of it. We must make it sacrosanct to take time out of our busy schedules and devote those hours to get close to different elements of nature. By doing this, we can ensure that we always have a healthy state of mind and body, leading to complete holistic wellness.
