We all want to be successful in our lives, and we will go to any lengths to achieve that goal. Whether we are required to work long hours, multitask or work in toxic environments, we do it all in order to achieve success. Working hard, however, is not enough for success! What you should do is work smartly. To do so, you must assess your level of work productivity.

You may feel a sense of accomplishment and success as your productivity improves.

Health Shots got in touch with Dr Jyoti Kapoor, Senior Psychiatrist and Founder, Manasthali, about the ways to reduce work-life stress in order to improve work productivity.

Dr Kapoor says, “It isn’t rocket science to be more productive at work, but it does necessitate being more thoughtful about how you manage your time.”

Here are 5 best tips to boost work productivity:

1. Make a to-do list

To-do lists are extremely useful tools for increasing productivity. They help you stay organised, focus, and give you a sense of accomplishment when you can cross items off your to-do list. If you make or update a to-do list each night, you won’t waste time looking for it at the start of the work day.

2. Remove distractions

We’ve already discussed the significance of concentration. The two major causes of distractions are social media and email. You must recognize and ignore whatever distracts you.

If you want to be productive, turn off their noise and shoo them away. Turn off your email and phone notifications if you need to concentrate completely. And if you are a Facebook or Twitter addict, after completing a significant activity, give yourself some time to browse. Then turn it off and go back to work.

3. Create self-imposed deadlines

While we usually associate stress with negativity, a moderate amount of self-imposed stress can be beneficial in terms of helping us focus and achieve our goals. Set a deadline for yourself and stick to it for open-ended jobs or projects. Setting deadlines and looking at the clock more and often, helps you stay focused and effective.

4. Stop multitasking

While we frequently think of multitasking as a useful technique for increasing productivity, the opposite may be true. According to psychologists, attempting to complete multiple tasks at once may result in lost time and productivity. Instead, make it a habit to devote yourself to one task before moving on to the next.

5. Prioritize your most time-consuming projects

Prioritizing your most time-consuming tasks ahead of any other assignments can help you stay more focused than prioritizing smaller and shorter tasks. Consider organizing your assignment list around these responsibilities and devoting time to them first thing in the morning or at a time of day when you are the most alert and enthusiastic.

6. Delegate tasks

Consider using delegation methods to distribute responsibilities among your team members. If you have a long list of tasks to complete, consider delegating some of them to others if they can be completed without your involvement.
