As happy and joyful as Valentine’s Day can be for couples, it can also intensify the feeling of loneliness for people who are single.

Though loneliness is not confined to only Valentine’s Day, it definitely takes a toll on their mental well-being. This year, beat these blues and make the most of Valentine’s Day.

But before we do that, let us understand what loneliness is.

What is loneliness?

Loneliness is a common emotion experienced by humans. One
experiences loneliness when they don’t experience the level of social interaction they desire. In the long run, this can cause severe mental and physical health issues.

To deal with such feelings on Valentine’s Day, you must inculcate some of these activities.

Valentine’s Day ideas for those who are single:

1. No love like self love:

Shower yourself with the love and care you deserve. Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to treat yourself to a nice massage, facial, haircut or manicure. If you don’t wish to step out, you can absolutely pamper yourself with some at-home spa treatments or draw up a bubble bath while listening to soothing music and scented candles to go with it. If you love food like many out there, you can also indulge in preparing or ordering your favourite meal. Go for self love!

2. Let’s get physical:

Going outdoors can instantly boost your mood. Be one with nature and plan a hike, a walk or a cycle ride around the scenic parts of your city. You may be feeling stressed around Valentine’s Day, but get centered by booking a yoga class. The calmness of yoga can help provide you with clarity for the rest of the day.

If art is your calling, there are several online and in-person classes roll around this time. Take up something new and try your hand at painting,
sketching or pottery. Experts say that working on a project and creating something from nothing all by yourself can be a very gratifying and soothing experience.

4. Find love – within!

In order to find love outside, you must find love inside. Use this time to get to know yourself better. Reflect on your actions, thoughts and feelings in the past week . Exercises like journaling, meditating and writing affirmation can help with clarity and channel positivity. Apart from this, making plans, charting out your future goals or spending time in putting together a vision board can help you see the bigger picture.
