How often do we get rattled with all of life’s challenges? Well, almost all the time. Whether these are little roadblocks or humongous hurdles, the impact is almost always felt. It all boils down to how you view the situations in your life. And especially how you deal with rejection and dejection.
Holistic lifestyle coach Luke Coutinho, who inspires us frequently with his small wins posts, has shared something meaningful on his social media. Here’s what it reads, “Rejection is a form of protection.”
Easier said than done, we know! But he says something that makes absolute sense, “Trusting that something or someone doesn’t work out the way it was planned for me, it’s because there is something or someone far greater and better in store for me.”
It’s important to accept rejection as a form of protection and guidance. This will offer you the opportunity to flow with life and come out of difficult and negative feelings when rejected. Trust that there is something or someone who is better for you.
Here’s what Coutinho says:
* If you get turned down on a date or in love, it’s because there is someone else better for you;
* If you don’t get that job, it’s because there is something better for you;
* Trust, don’t resist;
* Think of your past now, where you have experienced rejection, and reflect.

While everyone has different coping mechanisms to deal with the situation, do not run away from your feelings. Acknowledge the fact that you are hurting, and grieve the loss, instead of drowning your sorrows in alcohol or trying to binge eat. You could try out anything – from writing in a journal to crying, or even seek therapy, if it helps you feel better.

More often than not, we have the tendency to blame ourselves for everything that goes wrong in our lives. Resist the urge to self blame, because there are so many reasons that are out of our control too! So, accept the situation as graciously as possible and do not blame yourself.
It may seem like a hard task, but try and build your resilience, so that you can experience emotions and then bounce back. Try and focus on solutions and what you’ve learnt from your experience. It will help you grow as an individual and help you deal better with situations in the future.
