We realise the importance of health now more than ever, but is it just limited to physical health? The occurrence of covid-19 has also brought to the forefront of the significance of mental and emotional well-being. It is essential to remember that your emotional health is intrinsically related to your physical health. When your emotional health is out of whack, several issues like high blood pressure, ulcers, and other issues might arise. But when you are in tune with your needs and emotions, it is easier to tackle the various challenges that life throws at us.

So, how can we prioritise our emotional health? Well, we’ve got you covered, as always! Let’s head straight to the solution.
1. Find a good support system

If there’s one lesson that the pandemic has taught us — it is that nothing in life comes before people. Yes, material things make us happy, but only temporarily. The absence of our close friends and family was what affected us the most, wasn’t it? This is exactly why it is essential to have a close set of friends and family, who you can speak to, whenever you are down and low. Make sure you find people who are not just fun, but non-judgmental too!

2. Move your body

This is something that we’ve heard time and again. But it’s all for good reason! Exercising your body regularly can be extremely helpful to keep your hormones in check. Stress has become an intrinsic part of our lives, and it is important to manage it well. So, do as you please and set out to walk, or dance like no one’s watching!

3. Get intimate with your partner

We know sex is fun, but it also does a whole lot of good for your emotional well-being. Not only does it lead to a surge in happy hormones, but it also makes you feel good about yourself. It might sound bizarre, but have a schedule that works well for you and your partner. It could be once a week or even more!

4. Focus on a new hobby

Work is something that we do to sustain a living, but investing time in your passions is equally important. It could be anything from working out, gardening, writing poetry, playing music, learning a new instrument or more. The list is endless! You must do everything that sparks joy within you! At the end of the day, it’s also a great way to build your self-esteem.

5. Eat and drink mindfully

Of course, downing alcohol and binging on junk food feels great, but it doesn’t help you in any way. We don’t deny it seems like the best stressbuster at that given point, but practising moderation is important, as always. Eat what you want but in smaller portions and exercise regularly. There’s nothing more essential than maintaining a healthy weight for both your physical and emotional wellness.

6. Learn to say no

Last but not the least, it is important not to overextend yourself, even for the sake of your friends and family. If you take on more than you can handle, you will only end up frustrated. That’s because we are humans at the end of the day; we can’t handle everything, and that’s okay!

So, give some time to your mind and body, and you will be good!
