Have you made up your mind to have sex for the first time? How do you feel — nervous, excited, or a combination of both? Well, whether it is your first or 50th time, sex can bring on a lot of pressure, because you believe it should be perfect. That’s only because movies and porn have convinced us with their theatrics. If you are getting ready for your first time sex experience, it’s all about enjoying it, says Dr Tanaya Narendra aka dr_cuterus.

In her recent Instagram video, she has laid down 5 tips for great sex if it’s your first time.

Tips to make your first time sex experience right:

1. Consent and communication

There’s nothing more important than consent and communication if it’s your first or nth time. Since it’s a new experience, you are bound to have a million thoughts and fears in your head, but that’s when you need to take the leap and speak with your partner. Be open about what you feel. Whatever is happening must happen with enthusiastic consent from everyone.

2. Anxiety relief

Dr Cuterus says that it is quite normal to be anxious, but again having clear communication with your partner is of utmost importance. This is not a theatre performance, and one doesn’t need five stars at all. It’s all about having fun!

3. Pain and penetration

Most people believe that penetration is essential for sex, but that’s not always the case. In fact, it isn’t really the focus of sex. Instead, it is a good idea to enjoy foreplay, which will ensure that the pelvic floor is relaxed and there’s more blood flow. This essentially means more arousal, and eventually smooth sex.

Ladies, there’s nothing more critical than safe sex. So, use condoms every time you plan to have a sesh, even if you are a same-sex couple. It is essential to protect yourself from sexually transmitted infections. Oh, and use dental dams if you indulge in oral sex.

5. Have fun

Yes ladies, what’s the point of all this, if you can’t have fun! Ditch the stress, make love like there’s no tomorrow, and have a good time!

So, what are you waiting for? Don’t forget these tips if you are going to have sex for the first time. The thrill is real, but just make sure you are safe!
