You might have experienced pleasure while masturbating, but are there times when there’s discomfort once you’re done? If yes, then you need to be cautious about your hygiene. Yes, that’s what it means. Maybe you didn’t pay much attention to it while masturbating, and now your vagina is acting funny.
Masturbation is the act of touching your own genitals to seek pleasure. It is a common activity, and is a natural and safe way to learn about your body and release built-up sexual tension. While masturbating, you must always remember that whatever you use is going to go inside your genital area. That’s exactly why it must not be something that irritates you.
According to Dr Aruna Kalra, senior gynaecologist and obstetrician at CK Birla Hospital, Gurugram, your own hands are considered very much safe, when it comes to masturbating. But dirty and sharp nails can really harm your genital area. The skin out there is very sensitive and a sharp or jagged nail can scratch it very easily. Guess what? It can leave you feeling irritated, inflamed or uncomfortable.
They also make you more prone to infections through a small cut or scratch. Always remember to wash your hands as well as your fingernails, before masturbating.
Fruits and vegetables such as bananas, carrots, zucchini, eggplants and cucumbers are big NO for masturbation. Food after getting inside your body can really create a mess. It can fall apart and make you feel uncomfortable. The point is to feel relaxed after a masturbation session and not anxious.
“Also, the skin of fruits and vegetables are often exposed to chemicals which can be harmful for your vagina. So, no matter how alluring their shapes and sizes are, you should never put any of these inside you for masturbation,” says Dr Kalra.
Electric toothbrushes may sound tempting, as their vibrations can help you achieve a sense of pleasure. But they can actually be very dangerous for you. The rough bristles of the toothbrush can cause cuts, scratches, bleeding or even tear and inflame your tissues, making you more susceptible to infections. And, if it is a used toothbrush, it can cause more irritation and discomfort in your vagina.
Also, listen:
Candles should not be used for masturbation, as they can break inside your genital area. The wax can stick to the skin around your genitals, resulting in discomfort and irritation. They appear to be great for masturbation but they are not.
“The rough bristles of a hair brush can irritate or even give you cuts on the vulva or vagina. That is surely not the goal of your masturbation session, right? So, using a hairbrush for masturbation is a pretty bad idea,” says Dr Kalra.
You should know that body lotions, creams, and soaps are loaded with chemicals that are not at all good for your private parts. They can cause irritation, rashes and inflammation around that area. It can also disturb the pH balance of your vagina.
It is very important for you to understand that kids or pet toys are full of germs that can harm you in many ways. The brightly coloured, squeaky toys can be alluring, but they are a strict no-no for masturbation. They can cause infections, irritation and rashes down there.
Also, you need to be a little conscious of the fact that masturbation is healthy but too much of it has negative implications.
So ladies, you are allowed to have fun, but be cautious!
