Well, female ejaculation is another mystery altogether! For some, squirting during sex is considered one of the most sought-after and fulfilling sexual experiences, thanks to the world of porn or even that friend who claims she has a sprinkler system down her vagina! If you’re somebody who is curious about squirting, we have got you covered.

Well, there may be plenty of questions on your mind. Is the Oscar-winning feeling of a squirting orgasm normal? Can all women squirt? If they do, why are you missing out on it? So, ladies, there’s a lot more to squirting than just an extremely happy ending. And we have the juice for you!

What is squirting?

Dr Chirag Bhandari, Founder and Director of the Institute of Andrology and Sexual Health, spoke to HealthShots about the curious case of squirting and all you need to know about it.

“Squirting or in common words, female ejaculation is the rapid expulsion of fluid from the urinary bladder during a female orgasm. Some studies have also shown squirting to include secretions from the skene’s gland,” says the expert.

Does squirting pose any threat to your sexual health?

Quashing all the myths around squirting and its potential dangers, Dr Bhandari says, “Research has shown no health implications of squirting and hence it is safe to squirt. For people who do it, squirting is often stress relieving. As there are no proven methods to squirt and all vaginas differ, one can try and see what feels good. In fact, the ambiguity on squirting techniques is so varied that some studies have shown that squirting is possible even with an empty bladder. Full or empty, squirting is safe for the body.”

Can every woman squirt?

Well, some women can go on like an irrigation wheel. On the flip side, there are women who don’t squirt at all. It doesn’t mean that their libido is sinking or their lady bits are defective. It is because not all women respond to the stimulation in the same way.

Talking about the rarity of this condition, Dr Bhandari says, “Squirting is not a common phenomenon and most females do not know how to squirt. Trying to squirt can also be difficult. Ideally, one should have a full bladder during sex and let go of the bladder pressure when one reaches an orgasm.”

But whether you can squirt or not, it’s not something to be embarassed about, says ‘sex positive’ content creator Leeza Mangaldas. She talks about it in her latest Instagram post, and you can watch it right here!

What to do if you experience a squirting orgasm?

If you squirt every time when in the act but you’re embarrassed about it, you need not be! It may just be a confidence booster for most men. If you’re worried about the mess, just grab a towel before you get down to business.

“However, a good intimate hygiene routine must be followed once you reach the squirting orgasm. It is advised to wash your lady bits with plain water and pat the area dry. Not cleaning your private organs after coitus may contribute to the risk of Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) and other sexual infections.” adds Dr Bhandari.

That being said, don’t forget to use protection when things get steamy!
