We all know how communication is the bedrock of all relationships, but it could also help to rock your bed, ladies! That’s because when you communicate, you are clearly stating what you like and what you don’t, and when that happens, there’s more clarity. You also feel more understood by your partner, who otherwise, will spend sleepless nights just figuring out what’s going on in your mind.

So, how do we really learn to communicate? At an early age, we learn it from our families, and as we grow, it is our peers and romantic partners that teach us these things. Or let’s just say we observe movies, and shows. Unfortunately, these may not be the best ways to learn how to communicate when it comes to sex and relationships.

Talking about sex early on

Sex is considered a taboo in our society, which is why parents refrain from talking about it. Is that right? No! That’s because the child learns about sex from all the wrong sources. Moreover, he/she will start to associate sex with shame. As we grow older, the conversation remains taboo, and we speak about sex in hushed tones. There can be so much discomfort that people don’t even feel comfortable with their own bodies.

No communication leads to bad sex

Most of us believe and probably expect that our partners should read our minds, but that can’t happen! In fact, some people consider it awkward or embarrassing to ask, but that can really cause problems! Instead, talk about your fantasies with your partner and talk dirty! It will really help you get close to each other.

On the other hand, if you remain silent, consent could be a matter of concern and boundaries may be crossed. It could be that your partner believes in anal sex, but you may not.

Moreover, it is also the lack of communication that leads to fake orgasms. Some people believe in pleasing their partner, and experience a lot of pressure in the process. And in case they are unable to (or that’s what they assume), it can really hit their self-confidence. But whatever may be the case, have an open and honest conversation with your partner. Faking an orgasm is like betraying their trust.

Communication increases sexual pleasure

When we say what we really want, it is then our partner who decides how they can meet our needs. All in all, it leads to more pleasurable sex. In some cases, it is as simple as letting them know that they need to be slow, or more focused. Sometimes, it could also be about foreplay.

Plus, talking about your fantasies can really heat up things in the bedroom! It gives you an opportunity to explore.

Practice makes a person perfect

Yes, you might feel awkward when you first start initiating a conversation. But what’s important is to continue talking to your partner. This will encourage you to have more conversations. As they say, practice makes a person perfect!
