There are several things experts suggest with regard to sexual health and hygiene. One of them is peeing after sex—to avoid a urinary tract infection. But is there anything else that must be done post sex, primarily to keep the vagina healthy? The answer is YES. You must ditch your underwear. Surprised to hear this? Don’t be, because this and a few other tips are only going to help you.

So let’s move ahead!

Go commando

Yes yes, as we mentioned earlier, make sure to go commando and ditch your underwear. Wear something that’s comfortable, if you find it odd not to wear anything. This will help your vagina breathe and relax. Even if you have had sex, your vagina did some work, right? So, you need to give it some time to cool down. This will also help to prevent infections of all kinds, be it yeast infection or itchiness.

Why you may ask? That’s because your underwear can trap moisture, and act as a breeding ground for bad bacteria. And if you’re someone who is prone to yeast infections, then this is a tip that will definitely come in handy.

Pee after sex

This is something that most people know, but make sure you remember it. Yes, urinate after sex, even if your bladder isn’t full, to prevent UTIs. The infection happens when bacteria that live in the vagina get pushed into the urethra, during sex. What’s more, even if you end up with an UTI even after that, the symptoms won’t be as pronounced.

Wipe away the moisture

If you have had a steamy sesh in the bedroom, you know how it feels. There’s a lot of wetness post sex. After all, there’s semen, sweat, lubricant, vaginal fluids, and whatnot. While it feels great, it’s important to keep your vaginal area dry (post sex, of course). Just get your hands on a tissue or towel, and just wipe it all off from your vagina. That’s because moisture traps bacteria, and if you do not take care, you might end up with bacterial infections.

Also, an important tip is to not use fragrant soaps down there.

Visit a doctor if your vagina feels weird

Although something like this isn’t common, but in case you experience any discomfort after sex, or have any kind of pain or itching, you should definitely check with your gynecologist. This is even more important if you forgot to practice safe sex, and are concerned about sexually transmitted infections.
