Another study, published in PLOS One, found that women can burn up to 69 calories per session lasting about 25 minutes! Though it is less than what running on a treadmill burns,most of the participants reported that having sex is more fun than running on a treadmill! And there are no two ways about that!
If you want to burn more calories in that very limited time then taking charge and getting on top might be a good idea. You can also experiment more with sex positions, but make sure your experience is pleasurable!
Moreover, you can increase the spend between the sheets to burn more calories. But, apart from increasing the time of foreplay, you might want to boost your endurance to stay in the game for a longer period of time.
To do so, consider doing kegel exercises. These exercises give you more control and can also help strengthen your pelvic floor muscles.
While sex is pleasurable and offers many health benefits, it cannot replace exercise. For the sake of your fitness and well being, it is important for you to indulge in at least 150 minutes of exercise every week. And according to some studies, intense intercourse only lasts for about 6 to 10 minutes which is nowhere close to what is recommended.

Sex is pleasurable, can boost your mood and also help you burn a few extra calories. But if your aim is physical fitness or body toning then do not impulsively cancel your gym membership as sex cannot replace exercise!
