This tea recipe suggested by my friend has been a game-changer for period cramps. If you’re still unsure if sipping on some tea can get you rid of those excruciating cramps, try to believe it!

Nutritionist Shikha Aggarwal Sharma approves this tea recipe to relieve menstrual pain.

“Period pain makes women very agitated, and they drain all of their attention to it. However, this tea can be really beneficial in this regard. Sip on it for relaxing muscles and relieving period pain in the abdominal parts of the body,” Sharma, who is also the founder of Fat to Slim, tells HealthShots.

How to relieve period cramps using these ingredients in tea 

1. Ajwain

Carom seeds, commonly known as ajwain, holds a permanent place in Indian cuisines. They are incredibly rich in fiber and packed with nutritious antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. The anti-inflammatory qualities of ajwain makes this tea a potent remedy for pain relief.

2. Tea leaves

You must have heard everyone speak ill of tea, but it has some health credits to itself. Black tea has caffeine which gives a pain killer like effect when sipped on. Tea leaves are also packed with other stimulants and antioxidants like polyphenols and catechins. It can boost your metabolism, up your energy and ward off that period fatigue.

3. Jaggery

An unrefined form of sugarcane or palm juice, jaggery has been used in our kitchens for ages. It is a rich source of various minerals like iron, phosphorus, magnesium, and manganese. Gur or jaggery is loaded with a whopping 11 mg of iron for every 100 gms. Therefore, it helps to elevate hemoglobin levels, and is a perfect remedy to treat anemia, cramps, fatigue and irregular periods naturally.

4. Ghee

Clarified butter or ghee has become one of the most favoured fats for its wholesome range of health benefits. It is rich in antioxidants and fat soluble vitamins like vitamins A, E, and D. It is anti-inflammatory in nature and improves the absorption of minerals and fatty acids in the body. Hence, it can be a superfood to get rid of menstrual cramps naturally.

How to make this tea to get rid of period cramps:

  1. Take a saucepan and bring a cup of water to boil.
  2. Add ½ tsp of ajwain or carom seeds to the boiling water.
  3. Once it impart a yellow tinge to the water, add ½ tsp of black tea leaves.
  4. Bring to a boil.
  5. Add milk if you want.
  6. Mix a spoonful of jaggery to it.
  7. Strain the tea into a tea cup.
  8. Now, add ½ a teaspoon of ghee to it.

Now put on your favorite rom-com, get rolled in your fuzzy blanket like a human sushi and sip on this tea. We hope this remedy will definitely make your period a happy one!
