You might have to consult your gynecologist to find out the menstrual cup size that is safe for you and how to use it. Women across all age groups can use the menstrual cup as it is very safe and easy to use. Tampons have been in use for a longer time. So, instead of sanitary napkins, one can try using the other safer options to keep skin irritation at bay, suggests the expert.

If you are a newbie who has apprehensions about using a tampon or a menstrual cup, then you can find safer ways of using a sanitary napkin without irritation. Go for a napkin that is made up of breathable fabric, and make sure you are changing it regularly. Refrain from using the same napkin for a long period in case you have a heavy flow.

You rinse it off using normal water after regular intervals of 4-5 hours. This can prevent any underlying infection. You may take a warm bath, or use ointments in case irritation persist.
