From fruits and veggies to jade eggs, here’s why some things are better left outside the vagina—and not inside it.

While touching your vagina can bring you pleasure, it can also bring you pain. And that’s why how you treat it is really important. And even if you don’t want to believe this, the truth is that sex toys and a few other things can make your vagina really unhappy.

Since your vagina is the most sensitive part of your body, it can get irritated easily. The below-mentioned five things pose a great threat to your vaginal health. So, it’s best that you stop inserting them into your vajayjay.

1. Rubber-based sex toys

Sex toys that are made from rubber can get easily worn out, leaving the door open for infections. Instead, you can go for sex toys made of silicone or metal like stainless steel. Make sure that you wash and disinfect your toys with soap and water after every use.

Moreover, make sure that you don’t use anal toys for your vaginal play. No matter how well you might have washed and disinfected anal sex toys, they still might carry bacteria that can cause vaginal infections.

2. Fruits and vegetables

You might have used cucumber or banana emojis in your chats, but if you are curious to try them in real life then let us warn you: you don’t want to do that. Even organic fruits and vegetables are not safe to be inserted in your vagina, for the simple reason that they’re not meant to be there.

Edibles can introduce microbes to your vay-jay-jay that can alter the normal biome leading to infections and irritation. Not to mention, if that cucumber breaks into two while you’re getting down and dirty with it, a trip to the gynecologist will become inevitable.

3. Certain-types of lubes

Lubes are not only a blessing for people who often suffer from vaginal dryness but they can also make sexual experience all the more pleasurable. But while you are choosing a lube, make sure you stay away from flavoured ones. Flavoured lubes contain sugars that can become a breeding ground for yeast down there leading to irritation, itching or infection.

Moreover, oil-based lubes are also not suggested as they are thicker in consistency which makes it harder to wash them off. The result? A higher chance of infections. Furthermore, if your partner is using a latex condom, oil-based lubes can break it down putting you at the risk of STDs and pregnancy.

4. Vodka tampons

Yes, ladies! Women across the globe have tried inserting vodka-soaked tampons inside their vaginas. It is meant to give a buzz after the alcohol is absorbed into your bloodstream. But you shouldn’t be trying this at any cost since it can damage your vaginal walls and lead to certain other problems as well.

5. Yoni eggs

Yoni eggs or jade eggs are meant to be an alternative for Kegel exercises that can transform your sexual life. But here’s the thing: the material is really porous and hence really hard to clean. Which makes it a hotbed for bacteria… and you know what that means. So, if you want stronger vaginal muscles, we suggest you stick to Kegels.
