Why is my vagina so well? Why am I always wet? Have these questions been bothering you? Firstly, it is very important to note that you are not alone! Wet vagina is a common phenomenon that all women undergo, and it is perfectly normal.

As for what does it mean when you are wet for no reasons, we have all your answers right here. The amount of vaginal wetness may depend on many factors. Health Shots got in touch with gynecologist Dr Mukta Paul, to tell us why is the vagina always wet.

Why is my vagina always wet?

Sex is not the only time that you have vaginal discharge, you can have a moist vagina normally as well. Your vagina secretes fluids when you engage in the act of lovemaking. This fluid is nothing but your cervical mucus that is released from your vagina, when the blood flow is high. It is a gel-like liquid that is produced by your cervix, and is stimulated by the hormone estrogen.

However, there are different types of vaginal secretions that can occur at any given time of the month. There is lubrication that is produced down there to keep your vagina clean as well as protect it. This answers your question of why am I always wet. Besides this, wet vagina can also indicate the stage of your menstrual cycle. Hormones, age, stress, infection all have an impact on you being wet all the time.

What does it mean when your wet for no reason?

While moist vaginas are normal, if your vagina is leading you to change your panties every now and then, that’s not a good sign. In fact, you might be suffering from an infection! “If your vagina is wet than usual, then you could be suffering from any of these three conditions – bacterial vaginosis, pelvic congestion syndrome, or desquamative vaginitis”, Dr Paul explains.

1. Bacterial vaginosis

Bacterial vaginosis is a mild vaginal infection, not an STD. In this case, the balance between good and bad bacteria gets disrupted, causing constant grayish-white or yellow smelly discharge. This condition generally happens when you have multiple sex partners.

Also, watch:

2. Pelvic congestion syndrome

Wet vagina can also be caused by the pelvic congestion syndrome. This is a condition, wherein the blood flow in the vaginal area is too high, resulting in wetness. It is a common condition but often incorrectly diagnosed. In this case, vaginal wetness is also accompanied with pain during sex, cycling, or any other physical activity.

3. Desquamative vaginitis

This occurs when the cell turnover in the vagina is too high, and the lining of the vagina becomes inflamed. Major symptoms of this condition include a heavy yellow or greenish-yellow vaginal discharge, usually with little or no odour, painful intercourse, as well as vulvar irritation and itching.

Excessive vaginal wetness can occur due to these conditions. But ladies, worry not because these conditions can totally be treated!

Is it normal to have a wet vagina before my period?

Yes, you vaginal discharge will alter during your period cycle. While the uterus prepares for ovulation, you will have a white and stretchy discharge, and this will continue during your ovulation period as well.

How can I stop being so wet down there?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to not have vaginal secretions. Also, there is no way to control the amount of vaginal discharge you have as well. Additionally, it is important to note that those who don’t get very went down there also have nothing to worry. Vaginal secretions can be different for different people.
