If you are living in your own bubble that more peeing means better detox, then it’s time to wake up, because frequent peeing can also be a sign of underlying health issues. In fact, at times the situation can become so severe, that it can make you lose bladder control.

You might be unaware but women feel the urge to pee more frequently than men. That’s why we want to discuss this issue today, so that you know what’s happening with your body.

Here are ten reasons behind frequent urination:
1. You might have a UTI

UTI aka urinary tract infection is one of the most common causes of frequent urination. Unfortunately, this infection is very common in women. According to a study published in Sultan Qaboos University Medical Journal, around 60 percent women deal with UTI, and because of that there’s frequent peeing. UTI triggers your bladder, because of which, you pee often.

2. You are drinking way too much coffee

Coffee or anything that is diuretic will make you pee more and more. Basically when you drink any diuretic, your kidney releases more sodium (salt), due to which you feel the urge to pee more and more. So, if you are chugging that coffee more than the required limit, then you are bound to pee more than usual.

3. You must be stressed or anxious

According to experts, stress and being anxious isn’t good for your bladder, and that’s why it gets triggered more often. Due to this, you pee frequently.

4. If you are pregnant, then it’s your baby crushing your bladder

Leaking while you are pregnant is very common, and almost every woman goes through it. The point is, as and when the fetus starts growing, it puts extra pressure on your bladder. Therefore, as soon as you gulp something down your throat, the pressure put in by your baby would want you to urinate and feel relieved.

In fact, a review in the International Urogynecology Journal also suggests the urinary incontinence is more common in pregnant women.

5. You might have diabetes

Most diabetics report excessive thirst, as a symptom. Due to this, they end up consuming more fluids, and that’s also the reason they pee way too often. So, if you are also urinating often, then get your sugar levels checked.

Frequent urination

6. Your bladder might be overreacting

Overactive bladder or OAB is a condition, when your bladder muscles become super sensitive. In this disorder, you feel the urge to pee more often. Even during the night, they wake up to pee more than two times.

7. You might have vaginitis

Yeast or bacteria doesn’t matter – if you have a vaginal infection, then it can lead to frequent peeing. The pills that you might be taking to deal with the infection can also be the reason for frequent urination.

8. Your pelvic muscles might be weak

Even experts believe that weak pelvic floor muscle can lead to urinary incontinence. Basically, weak pelvic muscles find it hard to hold the urine for longer, and that’s why either you need to urinate on an immediate basis, or there can be a leaking emergency.

9. You might be constipated

If you are unable to clear your bowels, then there will be extra pressure on your bladder, and as a result you will need to use the restroom more frequently. Also, constipation can result in the weakening of your pelvic floor muscles.

10. You might have a sleeping disorder

When you are in deep sleep, your body instructs your brain to release a hormone called ADH. This hormone instructs your body to hold on to that urine, until you are up. But if you suffer from sleeping disorders like sleep apnea, then this hormone won’t be released by your body. Due to this, the oxygen levels in your body also dip, and your kidney has to release the water. This makes you pee real bad.

There you go ladies, now you know what frequent urination can actually tell you about your overall health. So, keep a tab on the number of times you are using the loo, because if it is six to eight times in a day, then it’s fine. If it’s more, then immediately check with your doc.
