Worried about your partner’s erectile dysfunction? Urge him to try yoga

Erectile dysfunction is becoming increasingly common today, and if you are worried for your partner, yoga can be a wonderful solution!

Increasingly, research shows that practicing yoga regularly can help ward off and even treat a number of health conditions. From diabetes, hypertension, PCOD, cardiovascular issues, and even erectile dysfunction (ED) can be managed through yoga.

If your partner is just starting out with yoga or has never tried it, we recommend that he takes it slow. He can take his time, and ease into the poses bringing awareness to his breath. Beginners to the practice are advised to practice under the guided supervision of a trained teacher. Only a qualified expert can help your partner out in arriving at the perfect alignment and form, ensuring that he receives the maximum benefit from the practice.

Your partner can practice yoga regularly for relaxation, flexibility, and balance. These yoga asanas are suggested specifically to deal with erectile dysfunction. It includes some basic poses like vajrasana, and asanas like brahmacharya for more seasoned practitioners.

1. Pranayama

Kapalbhati (bellow breathing)

Here’s how your partner can do this pose:

  • Choose a comfortable seated pose ( sukhasan, ardhapadmasan,a or padmasana)
  • Sit with your back straight
  • Keep your eyes gently shut
  • You can have your palms placed in prapthi mudra
  • Exhale in short, rhythmic, and forceful breaths
  • Deliberately compress your stomach to expel all the air from the diaphragm and  lungs
  • Inhale naturally between exhalations.

2. Yoga asanas

Paschimottanasana (Seated forward bend)

Here’s how your partner can do this pose:

  • Sit down with your legs stretched out
  • Inhale and stretch your arms up and as you bend forward, exhale bringing your upper body on your lower body as much as you can
  • Hold the posture for 10 seconds.

3. Brahmacharya asana

Here’s how your partner can do this pose:

  • Begin in a seated pose with legs straight out forward
  • Place palms next to your thighs on the floor
  • Lean forward slightly and exhale to activate your core
  • Press into your palms, inhale and lift your pelvis and legs up
  • Keep knees straight
  • Hold the posture for a few seconds.

4. Vajrasana with linga mudra

Here’s how your partner can do this pose:

  • Drop down on your knees
  • Place your pelvis on your heels with your toes out
  • Place your palms on your knees facing upward
  • Straighten your back and look forward.

5. Linga mudra

Here’s how your partner can do this pose:

  • First of all, sit in vajrasana, for the practice of this mudra
  • Close your eyes and take some deep breaths
  • Now bring both hands in front of your body, clasp them, and interlock the fingers
  • Keep the left thumb erect, pointing upwards, and encircling it with the thumb and index finger of the right hand
  • Removing all thoughts from the mind has to focus the mind only on Om
  • In addition, it should be done with both hands simultaneously
  • Do not decrease or increase the speed of breath from your side
  • Perform this pose for 35 minutes at a stretch every day or for 10 to 12 minutes three times a day.

Linga mudra is associated with the male phallus and is usually performed together with meditation. In this mudra, your partner can interlock his palms but keep the left thumb erect, pointing upwards. Linga mudra can be performed anytime and anywhere. With a combination of yoga asanas and pranayama, you can get an effective and, healing workout that can help your partner with ED.
