Lakshmi says, “Stomach burn is a very common digestive ailment which is also known as dyspepsia, and it can be easily treated by trying a few tried and tested home remedies.” Let’s look at a few of them.

How to get rid of acidity?

Here are 10 home remedies to relieve the burning sensation in the stomach:

1. Have a banana

Bananas are rich in antacids that can fight the burning sensations in your stomach. Regular consumption of it can provide you quick relief from it.

2. Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar helps balance the pH levels of your stomach, thus treating acid reflux. Just dissolve two or three teaspoons of it with a tablespoon of honey in a cup of lukewarm water. Mix it well and drink it. It will give you quick relief from your acid reflux.

3. Aloe vera gel

Aloe vera gel has anthraquinones that have a laxative effect on your gut. Having half a cup of aloe vera gel before your meal can avoid heartburn.

4. Lemon juice

Though lemon juice is acidic, mixing a tablespoon of it into a cup of lukewarm water and drinking it on an empty stomach will save you from regretting all the overeating at the party last night. It helps neutralise the acid in your stomach.

5. Cold milk

The home cure that people use the most frequently to treat acidity is cold milk. After meals, sip on a glass of cold milk to soothe acid reflux since it helps regulate overproduction of hydrochloric acids.

6. Green tea

Yes, green tea can help in relieving the burning sensation of the stomach due to its inflammatory property. However, don’t consume it on an empty stomach.

7. Dry ginger

When it comes to home remedies, you can never go wrong with ginger. Ginger consumption can also help in stomach problems like nausea, stomachache, and acid reflux as it contains anti-inflammatory properties.

8. Curd

Just consume a chilled cup of curd in case you have stomach burns. A cup of curd is full of vitamin B and lactobacillus which can help cool down your stomach.

9. Ajwain

Ajwain or carom seeds contain a compound called thymol that eases the release of gastric juices, enhances digestion and relieves acidity and constipation. Remember that ajwain should be avoided during pregnancy.

10. Mint leaves

Studies have found that mint leaves can improve digestive health and stomach acid content. Its cooling impact also aids in reducing acid reflux-related pain and burning. When you feel an acid attack coming up, chop some mint leaves, put them in a saucepan of boiling water, then drink the mixture after it cools down.

Fatty, oily, and spicy foods should be avoided as they can cause several digestive issues, including acidity, constipation, or stomach pain. Apart from them, you should also reduce the consumption of foods such as onions, caffeinated drinks, and carbonated drinks.
