How to do a pedicure at home?

Step 1

The first step is to remove any remnants of your last pedicure by removing the nail paint. Pedicure is all about cleaning your feet and nails, so the half-chipped nail polish has to go. Take some nail paint remover on a piece of cotton and wipe your nails with it. Make sure you wipe your cuticles too as some nail paint is bound to get there during application or removal.

Step 2

Next, you need to fill up your bathtub or a small tub with some nice warm water to soak your feet. You can add some bath salts and shower gel to the water as they help get the dirt off your feet. Now, you just need to relax and let the warm water do its job of relaxing your muscles. You can play some of your favourite music and relax for 10 -15 minutes.

Step 3

Once your feet are all warmed up and the skin and nails have become supple, you can start rubbing your feet with hands or a loofah or foot file or a pumice stone. This will help in getting rid of all the dead skin and smoothen your calloused or cracked heels.

Step 4

This is the best time to trim your nails too! Your nails would have become soft from being soaked in the warm water and will be easier to cut. Cut your nails properly and see if you have an ingrown nail, get rid of that too. If you want to keep your nails long, then you can file them and shape them at this point of time.

Step 5

By this time, your water will start turning cold, so take out your feet from the water and wipe them dry with a towel. Once your feet are dried you can take some oil or lotion to massage your feet.

Step 6

Though your pedicure is done, the last step is totally optional. If you like your nails with nail polish then at this point you can paint your nails pretty!

So ladies, give this DIY pedicure a try and save a trip to the salon!
