Staying happy is a simple statement, but when it comes to really finding it, then it becomes a task. The major reason is that we usually go for the materialistic aspect of happiness which doesn’t sustain for long. It has its own marginal utility and once you get it, your head and heart will pounce on something else and this becomes a cycle.
The thing is that happiness has a much deeper meaning to it and that’s why you need to do things that are sustainable. And more importantly, that works inside out.
So, let’s get down and dirty and start drawing the path for happiness.
Step 1: Create a positive aura around you: How to do that? Well, there are many ways to do that – start thinking positive, be with people who are positive in their mindset, say positive things, avoid people who are toxic and meeting whom you don’t feel good.
Step 2: Start the process of self-talk: No, it won’t make you look like a fool because one, you can talk to yourself in your head as well (when in public) and two when you are alone, there is no one to judge you. Self-talk is an amazing way to remind yourself of your self-worth and improve your self-esteem. What can you say to yourself to feel happy? Practice this – Whenever you feel low or otherwise as well, look in the mirror and say self-affirmative things such as “I can do it”, “I’m beautiful”, “I love you”, “I’m good enough”. You will see that saying all these things and following it will give you an instant boost.
Step 3: Stop comparing: We all love scrolling through social media feeds, but it has a flip side too. Consciously or subconsciously, when we look at the fascinating life of others on social media, we start getting into a shell and start cribbing about ourselves. This is something you should stop immediately if you really want to learn how to stay happy. Everyone has their own journey. Everyone works hard to achieve what they have achieved so comparing yourself with them is not fair.
Plus, it won’t help you in any which way. Instead, what you can do is you can talk to them and ask how they have paved their way through and take ideas that might help you in paving your path as well.
Step 4: Start being mindful: This is for everything – be it exercise, food, activities, etc – whatever you do, be a little mindful about it. Of course, there are times you can let loose and chill. Not being mindful not just has an implication on your physical health but on your mental well-being as well – and if that’s the case being happy will look a little far-fetched. So being a mindful mantra would be to eat good, look fit, and stay happy.
Although these are very simple things that you need to do to stay happy in life that’s the catch – Sometimes doing simpler things becomes more daunting in life.
So, take some time out and try doing some of them and see how happiness becomes a part and parcel of your life.
