Quick fix remedies to treat a shoe bite at home
1. Change your shoes
It is a no-brainer that the first thing you need to do when you have a shoe bite is to swap your not-so-fit shoes with a new ones. If the new pair you bought has given you nothing but discomfort in the form of a painful shoe bite, that pair will never be the right fit for you. Invest in some other comfortable pair.
If your shoes are causing bites, you should discontinue wearing them. Get the right-fitting and comfortable shoes, adds Dr Sethi.
2. Wear sandals instead
Leave that area open and instead opt to wear cozy pair of sandals that give your feet ample space to breathe. Go for a pair of loose sandals so that there is no further irritation in the area.
3. Apply an antibiotic ointment
Keeping your infected area open will only become a breeding place for more germs and bacteria. So, Dr Sethi recommends applying an antibiotic ointment twice daily on the shoe bite to treat and avoid infection.
4. Don’t poke your shoe bite
Some people have a cringe-worthy habit of poking the blisters time and again. Dr Sethi says doing so can exacerbate the infection. “You should allow the blisters to burst on their own,” she says. That is definitely one of the most natural remedies for shoe bite.
5. Ice cubes are the most instant solution
You can wrap some ice cubes in a clean cloth and let them sit on the shoe bite for some instant relief. This remedy is also great to alleviate any swelling too.
The same toothpaste you use to brush your teeth every day can do magic for shoe bites. Take out a little of it, and apply it to the infected area. Let it sit for a while, and clean it off with a damp cloth. You can then apply some vaseline jelly to protect the area. It’s one widely used shoe bite hacks.
7. Cushion the back of your shoes
Dr Sethi suggests getting the back of your shoes cushioned for extra ease and comfort to rule out the chance of any new shoe bite in the future.
